Travel through the time of beer

Beer has gained worldwide recognition. It spread rapidly and continues to exist today.

My goal with this concept was to create an experience where visitors move through an exhibition while physically following a timeline.

Through my scenography, I aimed to let visitors journey through time and space, guided by the story of beer. In this context, my "time machine" is represented by a fog screen.

For this project the goal was to design a didactic, immersive and participative course presenting collections, installations and devices allowing to develop an amazing and original experience. To stimulate creativity, to create emotions and to insure the involvement of the visitos. We were allowed to choose a specific Brand or the Belgian Beer in general.

  • 1. Historical Part : Mesopotamie, Egypte

  • 2. Process of making beer : Europe « Gaule »

  • 3. Human aspects related to the subject. : Germany

  • 4. Tasting area : Germany, UK, Belgium

  • 5. Garden : Belgium

The visitor is going throught time thanks to “fogs screens”.

While while travelling throught time the spectator is learning all about the different glasses and beer mugs, how beer got first conceived and where.

Babylone mesopotamie where everything began. The founder of the first beer thanks to bread mostly.

After Mesopotamia, in Egypt the beer was intensely used. As a drink as well as a medicine or payement.

The visitor enters a temple replica explaining the way and the importance of beer in Egypt at that time.

In Europe specially in Gaule, the beer was, as in Egypt, considered as a medicine but it was also a reason for them to get reunited for a banquet.

The visitor will be placed in a room full of barrels with a video mapping with different Gaulois talking about how they used to make beers and how they invented the barrels. Then the barrels (in the mapping) explodes onto the visitors.

Germany is really known for their own beer fest : Oktoberfest which was invented in 1810.

Video is projected for the initial reason of this celebration : Wedding of Louis 1st and Therese de Saxe in Munich

Thanks to the British. We owe them the very true beers pub.

The visitor will be drown into one of the first very old British bar with all the decorations. In the tunnel to get to that bar, the visitor will be able to see some different posters where they will be able to see some women talking about making beers in the old ages.

Belgium, the holy garden.

The « Belgae » are the bravest with their strong beers.

In this holy garden the visitors will be able to have a promenade around the Orval’s Abbaye replica while tasting the bests beers of the market chosen in the holy bible and made from monks.

In this garden a typical Belgium bar is designed with of course the BBB. Beliugm Beer Bible. In which the visitor will be able to chose his beer served by a “mon"k” and then go for a promenade into the “ruins of Orval’s Abbaye”.
